In 1997, Lou identified that there was a need for a coordinating organization to undertake the study of injuries and lead the implementation of programs and initiatives aimed at reducing the occurrence of personal injury.
Working with others, he was able to convince the Government of Alberta to establish the Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research.
The Centre staff consists of researchers, statisticians, program coordinators, educators and communicators who work with partners across Alberta to control injury. The Centre has become an internationally recognized example of a coordinated approach to injury control. |
